Any ideas? Need something that i can baton a lot with. I will be building small shelters as well. Maybe around a five inch blade? Bigger if possible just not something too huge haha. All suggestions are appreciated!

If you're not too worried about weight a good hatchet to be a bit better for fire building, shelter making etc..
I've just picked up a Fiskars X15 and it's pretty good. It was only $35 at walmart and the smaller X7 can be had for about $25.

Can save money and buy a Mora Robust, or something from Condor. If you can wait, Scrap Yard Knife Company has some you might like in that price range. There's also Beckers and Himilayan Imports.

I've been pretty impressed by the SOG NW Ranger for the money. I've wood split quite a bit with it. ~$60. The leather sheath that comes with it sucks, though. You can use the nylon version from the Seal Pup Elite. I keep meaning to pick one of those sheaths up, as the leather is no good when you get wet. Blade is AUS8, so just don't intend to spend too many nights at sea...Good for the dollar, though, imo. YMMV.

Becker BK7, Ontario rat 5 or 7, Condor boomslang, also check out the roach belly over at the pathfinder store.

Becker of some flavor

condor makes some good blades too. I have a HD kukri, and have been very pleased with it.

I don't own a becker, but I have seen lots of good stuff about them.

Like the looks of the SOG NW Ranger, saw it the other day at Cabelas. Really considering the Becker BK9. Thanks for all your suggestions! More are always welcome.

Ontario SP-50.

I have the 50 and bought my son the 51. Either way... I picked them up on ebay for $60-$65, and have batoned the daylights out of it. Still shaves the hair off my arm.
