Hello, I`m new here and have a question about a knife I just picked up. Its a 100 Year Buck 112 in the tin box w/ pin, paper, and sheath. It appears the knife has never been used. Only paid $25 for it and had every intention of using it but now I`m not so sure...its too purty! But then again, I want a 112 to use occasionally. How "rare" are these? Should I use it, or sell it and get a common one? New ones aren`t cheap! Don`t know if I could sell it though as it is a cool knife.
I think I`m gonna like this place.
Thanks,
7shooter

Welcome to the Buck forum, you got a heck of a deal.It would be a cool carry knife. The 100 year one's in a tin were only made one year but they made quite a few.If you want to save it to collect and buy a new standard model to use then you have Buck fever and we can all relate to that.

The 112s seem to be less common than the 110s......me, I'd display it (just out of respect for the grand history of the Buck Knife Company) and get another for a user.

Whatever gets you an excuse to buy another Buck works for me.

Welcome and good luck (join BCCI and get some great discounts on knives).

:)

Welcome to the forum 7shooter.

112's are nice knives for sure.

But have you seen the 110?

now off to the gun place to look up 7 shooters;)

Shooter, Welcome . Save it and get a standard 112 from Cabela's to use and carry . Your right those are too nice to use . DM

7, Welcome to the Buck forum... Keep it and buy a used one on line or a swap meet... ITE ...

My 1st 110 was a 100th anny and years later when I started accumulating, I regretted using it, but thats what I got it for and that's what is was made for. That being said, I eventually found one for display to match.

Up to you, but I think you would be able to pick one up on a popular auction site used or unused with no box or paperwork to have as a user. May take a little time and some patience. If you have both, do it. In the mean time you could get a 110 at wally world to use-under 30 bucks:thumbup::)

Just keep your eyes open, I just (in the last five minutes) picked up a real nice finger grip 112 with no sheath for $21 delivered. You just have to check the auction sites regularly.

Wow, you are the epitome of reward for viligance Plum:thumbup:
Nice pick up.

Thanks Guys. I started looking for another 112. Guess I`ll put the 100 Year on the shelf. I still have my old 110 (bought back in `77). Even used to carry it at school. No big deal back then. Most of us "country kids" carried a knife, plus I worked after school. I presently carry a Buck Sirrus AO knife and am real happy with it. BUT, as you know, you can`t have too many knives!
Back in the day, my cousin had a gunshop and he was a Buck Knife Dealer. He sold Buck knives 30% off retail (and sold ALOT BTW). Thats when I got hooked on Bucks.

Ah, use it if you need too!! It would take YEARS to go up in value,it then becomes a family heirloom that will mean more to your family than a tin in a drawer..DUC! [dress op carry] and then let your Honey Bunch have the tin for 'Girl Stuff' You can get more Bucks!
