#1000, how do I celebrate?

I have hit 1000 with this post. I was going to celebrate by giving away a knife and discovered I can't do that. O well, it is the thought that counts. :D

So, I think I'll buy a knife for myself, instead. The question is, do I buy a Spyderco, a Buck, or a Cold Steel? Do I get a fixed or folder?

I am already on tap for a Manix 2XL, so that is out. The local store has a nice blue Endura pretty reasonably priced (for here) and a Salt. Also, there is a Buck 105 I have had my eye on, lately. I do not know, what do you all think?

I have an idea...to celebrate your 1000 messages why not buy yourself a gold membership to the forum? Sounds like perfect solution to me.

Why can you not do a GAW? (I don't care if you do one, or not...but I'm interested in the explanation for why you can't)

I think a celebration would be to buy everyone in the thread a nice little opinel!

i would love to do that. However, it would cost me $120 for a year. My wife would kill me. A better idea is that you all chip in and buy me one! :D

Well, as a non-paying member, I do not think I am allowed, but more importantly, it would cost me $200 to ship. :(

The endura is on my list.

Yeah, I have a grey one. The only thing I do not like, and it is an easy fix, is that hump right where my middle finger wants to be. I just filed of the one on my Endura and it fits great now. So, that blue one has got me thinking...

A gold membership is $30 a year.

And as for shipping it would cost more but I doubt it would be $200. I ship global from time to time for $25 to $35US. Just about anywhere.

I've seen giveaways by registered members before, so there is nothing stopping you except your choice. While it is the thought that counts, I don't think that expression is applicable when the reason for not doing something is "I don't really want to".
$200 to ship?? What the heck aren't you giving away that would cost that much to ship?
$120/yr for gold? Where are you getting these numbers??

Just be honest about the fact that all you want to do is buy yourself another knife - nobody would have thought twice about it if you'd left it at that.

DocT, all members matter, even we registered ones. Celebrate however you like. Since I am a big traditional fan, I vote that you try a slip joint. As a matter of fact, Cold Steel will soon come out with one called the Lucky. Two blades with:

CTS-XHP USA steel
• 2 at 2.63 inch blade length
• Carbon fiber handle
• 8.5 inches overall
• Pocket or belt clip

Probably in the $70 range. Traditional type knife with modern materials, and one of your brands. Get one and give us a review. Thanks, and congratulations on 1000.

Sorry guys, I did not realize you did not know. I am on the opposite side of the planet and the exchange rate comes in to play.

So how would we know that? It became clear in the thread that you were outside the U.S. So do whatever you want. You'll probably spend as much buying and getting a knife as you would in a give away.

If you really want to do a give away make it a knife available on a US knife site and then have them ship it within the U.S. to the winner. ALL problems solved.

A cold steel Ti Lite or Push Knife would be my choices. A gold membership would also be a pretty good option.

At his apparent exchange rate, that knife will cost him over $280 USD.

Pretty spendy for a Cold Steel.

Hi!

I'd say get one of each. That way there's no need to choose or repent later on for not having chosen a different one...

Cheers!
