HOLY MOOSE DROPPINGS!! This is post # 1000 for me!!!!!!!! I got started on Bladeforums wanting to identify a knife, but stayed because I found some other AWESOME knives and people in the process, as well as a wealth of information. It was a pretty cool feeling to go from having two or three ‘knife sympathetic’ friends/family to finding hundreds of them all in one place.

So, this calls for a 1000th post contest!!! As a tribute to the baddest blades on the planet, the contest will be held in the BUSSE COMBAT forum. All BF members are of course welcome to participate.

OK – the contest goes like this:

Loosely following the format of a certain ‘lowest bidder’ auction site that is gaining in popularity, up to 5 (not one, but FIVE) individuals with the five lowest UNIQUE ‘bids’ will win their choice of any one Busse Combat Dog Tag PLUS their choice of any one Busse Combat Lanyard from the Busse Company Store. The lanyards are functional and look awesome on all Busse and on the also awesome Swamp Rat Knives, but would work on any knife with a proper point of attachment. See here:

The way it works is for the next two days, ending [edited to change to]:Saturday, November 11, at noon PACIFIC time (as validated by time stamp on your post), bidding is open to all. All you have to do is post a number, from one to INFInity (no decimals, fractions, or negative numbers). At the end of the auction, up to five people with the LOWEST UNIQUE NUMBER will be winners.

So what is keeping someone from waiting until the very end to determine the lowest unique number and posting it? Nothing at all. But, they run the risk of someone else also picking the same numbers at the same time, thus nullifying both entries, as they will no longer be UNIQUE at that point.

Also, there is no limit to the number of entries per individual. The only restriction is that you may make ONLY ONE ENTRY PER POST. No posts to the effect of “I pick 1 through 2000”.

In addition, it is NO HOLDS BARRED. You are free to sabotage others’ picks at your discretion. In other words, if Porkerson picks the number 3 and Randucci comes along and purposely picks 3 as well just to nullify Eric’s pick, he is more than welcome to do so. You may nullify anyone’s pick at any time, all the way up to the deadline.

Further, it IS POSSIBLE for one person to win ALL FIVE prizes.

Here is an example:

Aaronjayl picks 3
Rat picks 5
Westllen picks 8
Mulder picks 4
Gravelface picks 3
Tony G picks 12
Bravado picks 10
Bravado also picks 7 in a separate post
Raden picks 6
Cobalt picks .371 just because that’s how thick one of his Steel Hearts is and it’s one more opportunity to rub it in our faces :D
Jerry Busse picks 1
Amy-0 picks 5 thus nullifying Rat out of spite for the Golem eyes…
Skunk picks 1
Schuey picks 11

In this example the lowest number is 1, but not unique. Cobalt’s pick is technically the lowest, but violates the rules. The five numbers in bold above are the winners as they are the lowest, unrepeated whole number. And yes, Bravado won twice.

Keep in mind that depending on the number of entries, the lowest number could theoretically be a relatively high number.

As the Busse, Swamp Rat and ScrapYard crews are all eligible to participate, I will substitute as a prize to any of them at their option their choice of specialty martini olives, Nut Goodie’s (my favorite and an alternative to the Clark Bar which has already contributed to chocolate overdose and funky chicken runs), or pickled Walla Walla (my adopted hometown) Asparagus. These items are only available to the above mentioned crews.

At the end of the contest I will do the homework to determine the winners, and notify you for your prize preference, at which point I will contact Busse and get the order out to you! This may take a few days to complete depending on how busy I am.

If there are some loopholes that I did not think of, then take advantage of them (although that goes without saying and is to be expected, especially when dealing with Hogs and Rats).

Prizes are subject to availability. If they are out of your first choice, we'll go with the second, etc.

Thanks again Bladeforums and members for an awesome experience. I've had lots of good 'conversations', sales, trades, and purchases.

…and contest is now…….ON!

edited to add:

I see this has gotten off to a rousing start. :D At this rate, Rat will own all five winning positions. You'll all have to work hard to nullify his attempts.

I have edited my post to reflect the following:

I have upped the prize to FIVE combos of a lanyard plus a hog tag each.

Also to answer a few questions, one a number has been chosen twice, it's nullified no matter how many more times it's taken.

There is no limit on the top end. I used 1 to 2000 in the above example, but note that there is no number too high...one through infinity are eligible.

Ill jink myself with 1 and congrats on your 1000th post and your weird way of doing this contest, had to read it twice but I got it. Im slow that way.
