Well the time has come and i believe this post will make my 1000th posts. I have learned alot and have very much enjoyed spending these last few months getting to know some of you. This is a great place with great people and id like to give back for all that i have received in form of knowledge and more. Being the holiday season i cant afford to give as much as id like to but that wont stop me from giving.

So in the spirit of Xmas and going along with giving to others, the way this will work is everyone gets 1 nomination. and you cant nominate yourself, the person with the most nominations wins! This way each person who participates does so by giving a nomination to another member on the board.

Since alot of us are into bushcraft and survival i thought it would be beneficial to put together a few things that can help you thrive in the wild. So the winner will get:

1st: My absolute favorite book on edible wild plants. This book is over 500 pages long with beautiful COLOR pictures and detailed information on identifying, harvesting and preparing wild edibles. I have seen alot of books on edibles but none has matched the quality of this book and most are in black and white which can make identifying difficult. The book is Natures Garden by Samuel Thayer.

2nd: An older book but still has some very good information, Wilderness Survival by Berndt Berglund. this book goes over survival psychology, firemaking, signals, shelters, traps, snares, hunting, fishing, butchering and dressing game, cooking methods, water, edible plants, clothing and equipment, camp implements, first aid, travel, maps and compasses, making cordage and knots and more. Its 175 pages with black and white illustrations.

3rd: 2 of "murphs" sharpening stones, about 15ft of paracord, And a small emergency ferro rod wrapped with over 10ft of snare wire. Paired with your favorite edc blade (not included) and this could make being stuck in the wild way more comfortable.

I hope some of you can benefit and learn from these books as much as i have learned and thank everyone who wishes to participate. The nominations will be open and run until December 14th and i will ship after the holidays because of the fuss with packages going missing and longer wait times.

The generosity shown on this forum is truly amazing. There are a lot of members here who have done an awful lot for others.
CB just hooked me up with some ranger bands. He wouldn't even let me pay for shipping! lol
I see this kind of stuff constantly around here. This truly is a special forum and I'm glad I can be a part of it.
While this contests runs, let's not forget how generous Ethan, Ka-bar, & the Mods have been with their time, effort, and products. Thanks guys!

I needed a sheath a few weeks back and K-9 hooked me up big time. He even threw in a new sharpener for the sheath pocket.
He's a real stand up guy and an intrugal part of the BK&T forum.
My nomination will be for K-9 Handler.

I nominate Oregon Fal'er, he saw that I am really into both running and Steve Prefontaine and happened to come across an Oregon magazine with a big picture of Pre on the cover (btw Fal'er this is hanging up in my garage). Not only did he send me the magazine but he also threw in a couple of pieces of fatwood (really hard to come by where I live). When I offered to send him something to show my gratitude he declined and said maybe another time. A really class act guy and a great reminder why this is the best place to spend your time on the internet. I wish I could run into people like him in my day to day life more often. Thanks again OF.

Does the person you nominate have to be a beckerhead? If not, I'd like to put up HikingMano. He's helped me a lot in acquiring a few knives, he's helpful, easy to talk to and very constructive and informative in his posts. On top of that, he takes amazing pictures of the trips he does. Those pics really take you along the journey. Great guy, definitely deserves some thumbs up.

I'll nominate cellerdrummer! Thanks for the great giveaway! It's a gift that keeps on giving!

Being a rookie on here, I'm not sure if I'm eligible to nominate someone or not. If I am, I would like to nominate Hawk 590. He is the first person who I've gotten to talk with much on here and has been very welcoming to the Becker Group and the site as a whole.

congrats on the 1000th post!! i dont have a nomination i'm so new sorry but good luck too everyone!

I'm going to nominate K-9 Handler as well. Not only did he throw a free sheath my way, but he reached out to me offering to clean up my disastrous attempt to grind down my 9 into a drop point. He shaped it just how I wanted it free of charge and even put on a beautiful duracoat too. Very generous guy.

Cool giveaway WW. I nominate Erik (1066vik) if you ever go to a gathering youd know why. Not only does he give away a lot of stuff, but the man is a walking liberary of knowledge.

Heck man, thanks a ton!!! I got your other set heading to the PO today. You gonna love these.

I'm a relative newbie here, with less than 40 posts, but I've read 1000's of posts and hundreds of threads, not sure if my nomination counts. There is an incredible wealth of knowledge being shared here and many many generous folks. I've got to say, it's kind of weird... I mean this is the internet after all :). Anyway thanks to all of you for the wisdom you've shared.

That said, I'd like to nominate 1066vik (Erik), a few weeks ago, I was "thinking" about ordering a BK14 (I did, and am enjoying it). I had some questions about it, and Erik actually fabricated a part for the factory sheath, photographed it, and posted the pics here in my thread. In my book, that is a pretty rare experience, definitely above and beyond the call. Not only did he answer my questions, but he even offered to send me (a person he'd probably never even heard of before) the part he fabricated... all I can say is Wow!

Besides, he spells his name the right way!

Erik

All nominations are ok but i would prefer the person to be an active poster in this sub forum, if not they prolly wont get more than 1 nomination anyway so it more than likely wont be a problem

Your eligible, Hawk isnt a rookie so it works out just fine thank you for participating

Sure you count...... even if you have problems spelling yours and 1066viks name :)

Way too many generous people on here to nominate just one. At least ten or more come to mind easily. Great giveaway though and thanks for that.
