102: Any Pocket-Carry Sheath(s) Available? Anyone Carry A Fixed Blade In Pocket?

It might work to pocket carry a 102 due to its small size (7.75" overall). I wonder if there exists right now a sheath, small, thin and light, that makes in pocket carry a snap... A deep-carry thin sheath with a pocket clip perhaps. Leather, kydex or something else.

Oregon,

Years ago I carried a fixed blade in my back pocket. It wasn't a Buck 102 but a Gerber Shorty. After hunting one cold day (about 5 degrees), I got back in the truck and kind of plopped down on the seat. The result was that I snapped the blade off right at the handle. The 102 has a thicker blade but even so it would have been stressed. After that I decided fixed blades should be on the belt.

I've heard of de-icing on a cold winter's day but de-assing that has gotta hurt. And everything seems to hurt more when it is cold. :)

Sorry to hear about your broken knife. That is a bad beat.

I was thinking about right front jeans pocket carry. Probably just sever my femoral artery if the sheath failed so there is risk to knife and carrier alike. Leroy has a fellow that makes kydex sheaths but I don't know about one for the pocket. I will see him next April.

AG Russell sells a great WoodsWalker knife for $23 which I like a lot. Comes with a pocket leather sheath, I have carried one on and off for years. Fits great in the ACU ankle pocket and is light enough to be forgotten. Also, carries well in jeans rear pocket. It's pretty much a paring knife though, not going to take a lot of hard use.

KSF also makes pocket sheaths, I have one for a small custom Harmon I have and a fire steel. Probably should have gotten it without the firesteel.

Sorry, but I don't know of anyone who makes one for the 102. Sure it could be done but I think I would try one of the above options first to see if you like the carry style at all before you go a custom route.

A Buck 113 I think could be a better option than the 102, not as long and I think a stronger knife overall. The Paklites could also be a nice option since they are thinner without slabs on them.

It sounds like a job for cargo pants with the thin side pockets, easy enough to make your own though "your own custom" Try a old pair of L.L.Bean suede leather slippers...I always recycle them. and rivet gun with aluminium rivets or break out Needle.....LOL

Thank you for the terrific suggestions. I have options now.

Good ideas. Recycle.

I'm starting to think horizontal belt carry in middle of my back in what might look like a case for glasses but instead house the 102.

Oregon, I thought of that same thing, side holster carry, very popular today. And yes the middle of the back its a perfect fit! thats where I use to street carry a knife with the sheath too! I did so much I thought the arche of my back was created for it.....LOL "keep between the dimples as they say" LOL I wont tell you how it stays lodged below the back....LOL Just being CHEEKY....:)

Everyone here knows I had been looking for a 100 series knife I had lost from the 70's. I believe I put in that spot behind my back as "back up" because I had to take a long gun on the train to downtown Boston to have some Leupold scope & ring work done on my Remington BDL. It either got lost on the train an fell out or after arrived home and changed up it was in my living room an a friend? stole it.......But otherwise I never lost a knife that way, if it did loose it?
