Could a flap sheath be original to a 1989 model 102?
I thought they were gone by about 1980 or so.

Flaps were used into 1986 as the Snoopies were phased in.

As always, old style sheaths showed up for some time after that, so 1990 is not impossible.

I'd say it could very well be the right sheath, but nobody knows for sure.

If the rivit on the back of the sheath is a large disc, would that make it a newer or older flap sheath?

Newer, I'd say.

BTW, I have a 105 Flapover with such a rivet that has the "Buck Buck Buck" snap.......so there has apparently been some production of these for special and various knives all along.

If it has 'Buck' 3 times on the snap and/or their triangle logo on the front you'd have to say its in the correct time frame. DM

Yes it has a 3 Buck snap. I didn't think about that. I don't have many but all my flap sheath are 1 Buck.
Thanks for the responses.

Buck sheaths and boxes are a whole aspect of collecting that doesn't get discussed very often. It is almost as hard to find correct sheaths and boxes as it is to find the knives that go in them. I think the history of this type of stuff is just as interesting.

Anybody needing boxes with paperwork let me know,a few years ago I had my collection stolen, and my Buck knives boxes were stored in a different container,I still have all the boxes and paperwork for them,if you need something post it i'll see if i have what you might need, they are useless to me.
