Hi,

I have a mid 60's 102 that has seen 40 years of hard use, just a great knife, it's processed over 800 deer amongst other things. The flap style sheath just broke and I need another. I don't like the new style so could anyone help me in finding one of the flap style sheaths?

I've seen a couple of knives/sheaths on X-bay, I'm thinking about buying one and reselling the knife, anyone want a 102 without the sheath?

Thanks
Doug

welcome to the forum , please don`t sell your knife , continue to use it and then pass it down to your kids so they may use it

I Dunno know. I had a pair of good knives that I gave to my brothers in the late 60's after some years of good service (one was a swedish laminated steel and I replaced them with a Puma and a Boker). What did they do, they cut up dog meat and left the knives out in the weather!!!!. I haven't given them anything like that since. If your kids appreciate it then leave the knife to them. It has been a good tool. Otherwise sell it to someone who cares.

I'm not going to sell my knife, I'm thinking about buying a used knife with the type sheath I want, keeping the sheath and reselling the knife that came with it. I am seeing knives with sheaths for sale on ebay but not just the sheaths. My 102 was given to be by my brother when I was 14, it's all I've used for 40 years and all i need for the rest of my life..

Thanks for the welcome

Doug

O.K. I have to ask how did you process 800 deer with that knife? Do
you work in a meat market?
Jeff:rolleyes:

Well, I've taken slightly better than 200, all but one have been gutted with the 102. I hunt with a group of about 15 guys, we pool our land and also the deer, some of these guys are retired, others are farmers, they hunt alot. We butcher deer on Sundays, last week before christmas 10 of us did 21 deer in 9 hours(only one was mine). We each have a specialty, mine is doing the hams and skinning if we are short handed. Last year was an off year, we only did 69 deer, normally it's between 80-90, I've been hunting with them 15+ years so you can do the math. Actually, 800 is probably low since it does not include deer I killed before I lived here and I also left out my bow kills which are done solo..

This is not meant as a brag, I just use the knife alot...Still looking for a sheath..:)

Doug,

BTW: In 1972 I snuck out of the barracks late one night to do a little partying, I ran into a guy named Scott who had similar ideas and we became friends. We hunted together for a couple years and then went our separate ways. In 1990 I moved to my present location and ended up living 2 miles from his farm, fast friends again and how I came to hunt with these guys. He also has a 102 that he purchased right after he got out of the AF in 76, got got it because he liked mine. I'd wager that he has done far more deer than me since he has been doing it since then.

Thanks Doug.
I hope that you find a sheath like you
want for your 102.If someone here on the fourm has one
you can get one from them.

I have a like new 102 Woodsman sheath, never been out of the house. If you want it I would trade you for the new style in black. Send it to me and I will send you mine, as long as it is a new one.

Let me know.

I have an old and well used 102 sheath, holster style. You can have it if you pay the shipping. All the best.
