I have been lucky enough to acquire a 103 in a double sheath with a 116> in the other side. I know the 103 goes in this sheath, but the sheath has 117 stamped on the back. Is the 116> the correct partner for the 103 in this sheath?

Loumc, Yes, that is correct . Buck made three twin sets from 1963 to discontinued ? (maybe 1993) . The first was called the "Twin Set" md. 104, held the 103 and 102 . Then the model 115 Sportsman's Set holding the 103 and 118 . Yours is the model 117 named the Trophy Set and holds the knives you named . Good fined ! I'd hold onto them as your knives have 425 steel . DM

Congratulations on a fine score! I've been wanting one of those myself but never see them for a price i'd pay.

Thank you all, - David you know your Bucks - The 116 did not have a > sign after the number it was a < and I believe that denotes 1987 - would a earlier one without anything after the number be better? since the 103 just has the number.

Again Thanks so much

I think that the original twinset is even older than thus far identified in this thread.

The very first twinset was a barrel-nut twin set Model 210, with a model 110 (later renamed 103) and a 102. It was in the very first issue of newly incorporated Buck Knives, Inc. in 1961, consisting of the 6 knives, , 110, (later renamed 103), 102, 105, 118, 119 and 120--all barrel-nuts, and the 210 twinset, also barrel nuts.

Tele, your correct . I remembered you had that 210 . Glad you showed it as its a earlier twin set and rare . Buck did a few before these but I don't know if they attached model numbers to them . I've held two and seen more in pictures .
Louac, your 103 may be of the same steel . You'll have to tell me how many micarta spacers are in the finger guard and the pommel in order .
Thanks DM
