I just got my Fenix LOD CE fron the Fenix-Store.com.:D Cooool light. I was thinking of buying a couple of 10440s. The 10440s are rated @ 3.6v, but the paperwork that came with the light rated it @ 0.8v~3.3v. I heard these lights are brighter with the 10440s, but I don't want to risk burning up my new $45 light.:grumpy: I would have posted this on cpf, but i'm having trouble posting there.

I use LiIons in my LOD; but, not my LOD CE. The latter just gets too hot too fast for me. Also, run-time on max brightness is limited due to heat buildup.

I have a second LOD CE on order. If this second LOD CE runs cooler than my other one, I may run a LiIon in it. I use Energizer primary lithiums in my current LOD CE and I'm pleased with the brightness levels. Using a LiIon in a AAA light like the Fenix LOD is for showing off rather than being practical in my view.

I have used a 10440 in my LOD CE, works fine, very bright but it gets hot quick. It's great for showing off but i'm not sure how safe it is and the runtime is pretty short so I have switched to using a NiMH.

that li ion will top out over 4 volts. The life of the LED will be shortened, there is also a greater chance of sudden death of the emitter. I run my L1D ce on nimh and its plenty bright for its size, of course since I modded my HDS 42xr with a USVOI seoul P4 I use it almost exclusively.
