Hey folks,

I just picked up my first flashlight from Laulima Metal Craft...their "Hoku". On their website it suggests using an Efest 10440 flat top battery. The only problem is that it seems like the Efest has been discontinued. I was wondering if anyone could suggest a good 10440 flat top battery? Thank you in advance.

Cheers,

Ben

I looked up your flashlight, and it recommends the Efest batteries AND Vapcell INR. I also googled "flat top 10440 battery" and found a website on the first page of results (not the one listed on Laulima's page) that still sells the Efest. Kinda pricey though. The Vapcell can be found in the most obvious of places.

If you were wondering, IMR and INR are not the same thing. IMR is lithium manganese, INR is lithium nickel. IMR is considered a "safe" chemistry, or at least safer than INR. Both are high drain. I wouldn't worry about the INR being "unsafe" if your flashlight maker recommends them. I'm not familiar with guppydrv Rev.1 (the interface/driver your light uses), but from what I can gather it does not have a low voltage cutoff, and neither the Efest nor Vapcell are protected. Instead, it'll go into a "moonlight" mode at 2.8V. So be careful.

Reddit / Flashlights is a great resource for questions like this. Personally, I would look for Vapcell 10440's.

Unfortunately, 10440 batteries are very limited in production.

Search for "10440 Vapcell INR10440 320mAh 3A High Discharge" on Google for a reasonable start as well.

Thanks for the intel...I just ordered 4 Vapcells for my flashlight.
