Hi Everyone,

How tough is 1055 Carbon steelsteel?
How is edge retention and rust resistance?

Edge retention is not outstanding. It's not meant to be, the emphasis of this steel is on toughness. It's used for hacking, digging, throwing and chopping tools.
Rust resistance is not very good. That's why all the machetes and knives made of 1055 are coated. The swords made of 1055 are presumed to receive good care.

Thanks philwar,
I ordered a cols steel cane sword in that steel.
I have no personal experience with CS swords, but have many online friends who do, and without exception they are enthusiastic about the CS lineup of swords.
I do own a few CS machetes and knives in 1055 (even a Battle mace), and they are all very good value for money, and tough as nails. You should have no problems with your sword cane. Enjoy! ;)
