I was just looking through a knife case downstairs and was wondering about 2 107's I have. They are great feeling knives but are both NIB so I havent tried them. A serch gave me lots of info so to those of you that posted in the past thanks. PS I'm without knowing getting a good collection of the 100 series just a few to go. Thanks again BB:)

No pic just reg 2 pin w/ dark with lighter streak handles. I got them at a "tree huger hiking shop" in Edmonton Alberta. They were very cheep & I liked how they felt in hand.

What year mark? Those sound like the ebony wood handled models with no finger guard. DM

Do the ones you have look like the bottom one in this picture? It's from 1989 and has impregnated birch handles according to the catalog. Click on the picture to enlarge it.

Dave, Yes, that change occured in 1984, the black laminate wood with two large pins. Also, his could have no date code with block style lettering. Describe the sheath yours came with. DM

Hmmm, the '84 catalog says they have "BucKarta" handles with two large large pins/rivets.

I don't have a sheath for my '89 wood handled one, but here's the sheath for the other one.

It shouldn't unless it's a Jan. catalog. The sheath for your 2 pin model should be stitched on both sides. The sheath you show is the older style sheath from 1976. DM

Here's a screen shot of the '84 catalog description. The picture shows a two pin handle with no guard.

Here's mine a 1976 model I thought I had a photo with the sheath but guess not. Though mine is form the year of introduction thats sort of a misnomer as this same knife came out first with the model 200 Empress Trio in the early 70's (72 or 73). DM

I wonder if they just forgot to change the description in the '84 catalog? It's word for word the same as the year before, but the knife design was changed.

Yes, thats done sometimes. I wasn't trying to start something with you but many forumites often do that. We trust the catalog as if it's the last word only to find a model did change yet, Buck used the info. from the previous year's catalog. I checked in my 1985 Dealers catalog and it shows that model with 2 pins and birch wood handle and the description expresses this as well. So, it could be the change occured Sometime
in 84 and was not reflected in print until 85. Yet, this is written about in our newsletters in the June 2005 issue. DM

Also, it's of interest, this knife's stamp as a paring knife was the old English 2 line, script. When it became its own model it carries the stamp like all the rest 100 series of that era, A 3 line block letter stamp. DM

This one and this one, David?

Haebbie, Thanks. Yes, thats the two styles of stamp for this model. Also, notice the stamp on this model are on the left side whereas most fixed blade 100 series knives are stamped on the right side.? They started with it. DM
