1070 Carbon easy to work with?

I just came into about 2 feet of 1070 carbon steel that is 3" wide and 3/16" thick. I'm thinking about making a chopper out of it but first I want to know how easy 1070 carbon is to work with, I have a Drill press, a Bench Grinder, a Stand up Disc/Belt sander made by Grizzly, and countless files. What other tools will I need to work with this, and how would I go about Heat treating this? This will be my first knife from a steel that isn't L6.

Sounds like you are ready to go. It works just like 1084. HT is nearly the same,too.
