1084/HRC ? Short sword

Hello all, I have a question about the hardness of a short sword made from 1084-.250 stock

It has and 18" blade about 2"tall with a distal taper at the last 6"
I heat treated it by color and magnet as I've read and then temper at 450 for 2 hours
So it should be around 58-58 but I can bearly cut it with a mill basterd file .
I would like to know if you guys think I should take it up to 500 and re temper it or will it be tough enough as is ? It will be used for heavy brush clearing and chopping
I plan on taking it to .030 behind the edge also

Thanks !

If it's a single edge(which I assume it is) I'd draw the spine back to blue with a torch and leave the edge as is.......1084 is pretty tough stuff.
And post a picture of it........WE LIKE PICTURES!:D

Darcy:)

I have pics of it in sword discussion . Check it out ! ;-) I'm going to do a YouTube video maybe today and post it ...

I don't see any pictures in the sword forum? How about posting one here.

Rc 54-56 would be battle tough, if used reasonably, Darcy's suggestion is what I would do.
