Any tips on 1084?? I'm going to pick some up from the post office and will be playing with hamons more now. I'm looking for a TTT graph and I lost all my links. My computer needed to be "redone" if you know what I mean. It sucks when that happens.

Ive always ht'd 1084 just like 1095. Hamons were always easy with 1084, while ive recently found the timing on 1095 to be a little more difficult. Whered you get the 1084? I havnt found any but once im out of 1095, i am going to order up a batch of 1084 if i can locate it.

Actually i haven't received it yet. the package I picked up today turned out to be for my wife. I have however paid for it so I'm assuming it's on it's way. I ordered it from Texas Knifemakers Supply. What would you recommend for tempering temp-wise?

I'm just about out of 1084 myself. Didn't know TKS had any available, guess they might have found some. With 1084 I take it hand warm from the quench and put it in the oven at 400 for an hour. Out of the oven until room temp. and back in at 425 for another hour. So far, that has worked very well. I'd like to hear other guys thoughts on this. You can do a search, there's been many threads on this same topic.

I don't have one for 1084 but I've got 1080 and 1090.

Both have the P nose about 3/4 of a second off the left side. Nose on 1080 is peaks at 1000°F and the 1090 peaks at 1050°F. Austenize 1084 at 1475. Don't stop to scratch between pulling the steel out of the forge and putting it in the quenching media!:D
