Hi guys,
Or maybe a smaller Bowie, i'm not so sure...
My wife drew this one on piece of paper, so she's "guilty" for the design. I did everything else...
Blade is forged from 1095 bar. Flats are left raw after forging, bevels are finished with 2000 grit.
It's differential heat treated and etched in ferric chloride, so there is nice hamon visible.
Deer antler is dyed with potassium permanganate to get that "old look". Soft parts of antler are sealed with epoxy resin.
Pictures are taken in front of my shop with cell phone, and i'm not sure how visible that hamon is.
Dimensions are:
Blade length - 6 [SUP]1/2[/SUP]"
Blade width - 1 [SUP]11/16[/SUP]"
Thickness at the back of the spine - 13/64"
Overall length - 11 [SUP]11/16[/SUP]"
Tang is tapered to 5/64"
I still have some buffing to do (and final sharpening), sheath is on the table right now.
Any comments and suggestions are welcome.
Thanks,
Dalibor
