Just got my piece of 1095 steel.
1/8" thick 12" by 8"

Now, what will I make?? Any ideas? Shapes? sizes?
To use the metal wisely should make 8" OAL peices, or 12" OAL pieces.
...or a bunch of 4" OAL pieces?

Throw out the ideas! Post pics!

Was considering doing the original WSK but in 1/8". Could probably Make about 6 of em, and at 1 1/2" wide, instead of 1 1/4".

Comments?

A bunch of ninja stars!
No really, I like these designs for that thickness.

This is a spin on that harpoon knife in another thread.

A nice wharncliffe style would be nice too.

Mike, I should have mentioned, these are just in the vault of knives I hope to make or own one day.
I never really realized, but is there a permission thing needed to post someone elses pictures?

Beware that 1/4" thick 5160!!

Good stuff, but, be prepared to grind and grind and grind!
And just to think, I almost got it in 3/8"ths

OH I know what I am in for, I need to buy a new grinder anyway.....what a thing to break it in on right;)

Liams second knife is nice...My design for a 1095 is a small warcliff neck knife with a finger choil and some ridges on the lower back for a thumb rest could probably be done with a 3 inch blade and a 5 inch handle profile would be just under half an inch at the thickest point, spine thickness between .13 and .16.I'll be starting mine next week but feel free to use the idea if you like...there is something about that style blade in a neckk knife that seems pretty functional

1/8" steel is screaming for a Nessmuk IMO. Also the Wharncliff style is super useful with thin steel.

I use McMaster Carr too! That 1 day shipping is sweet. Check out the enormous selection of sanding belts they have. I finally found good ones for my 1x42.

I love your Bully design, I think you should go for semething around 5 inch blade with, use the left over for a companion necker/harpoon design.

PS: are you using stock removal or is there some forge hammering going into the design.

Stock removal. No heatin and beatin.

Went to my stash of corian material today, cut out some nice little slabs, blue-ish speckeled. Might look good with some blued metal.
