Just finished up a more "utilitarian" Bowie, been a while since Ive made one with micarta. Wanted to make one that would be a good military style Bowie. Blade is 9-1/4” long x 1-7/8” wide, overall length is 14-1/4”. Blade is .320 thick at ricasso, with aggressive distal taper to the tip. Sharp, pointy, keen tip sticks like a fighter, wider blade chops and cuts like a bigger Bowie. Clip is sharp to cut on the back stroke. Differentially heat treated using clay multi quinch, double temper, polished to show hamon.

HI Micheal, the handle is taken to 220 and then hit with a grey scotchbrite pad. Gives a good almost textured feel wile still feeling "finished".

Your right it looks very pointy. What a Beast very nice as is the Hamon.

Hey Joe, every knife I make has a convex edge, so Yes its a convex edge. I sharpen them with a traditional "bevel" then roll that bevel in until im happy with the edge profile/geometry of the knife and its intended use. I do the final edge on flat stones, Norton fine India, then Spyderco fine/ultra fine ceramics, then a good ole strop.

Wicked and rugged and will serve exceptionally well without a doubt. Aesthetically, I would prefer a less pronounced finger pull - but I'm sure it feels great in hand.

Wow! If I had to choose one knife to survive with it would be that one!

Top notch as usual!

Very good design for purpose and well done overall.
Would be hard pressed finding a more durable and multi-functional military/survival "big knife" in my opinion. I agree with Roger on the finger pull, but as you said easily tailored to individual customer preference.
