Thus far, I have only used 01 in the few knives that I have made. I picked up a piece 1095 today. Can you make a decent blade out of this steel, or should I stick with 01?

1095 is terrible steel and must be disposed of in a careful manner by a trained specialist. So I'll do you a favor, send the steel to...... ;) Yeah it's great. It's a tough steel.

1095 is a great steel, and some of my favoreite customs have been made out of it.

I currently use O1 myself, and have enough to last me for next year with how little time i manage to put into knifemaking, but would have 1095 too if TKS had had any lasttime I ordered. Ordered twice as much O1 instead.

But anyways, yes, very good, and can do a nice hamon with it if you clay coat.

I love 1095.

It's so cheap and if heat treated properly is so hard.

Unfortunately it rusts quickly.

But since I'm still using the 3 feet I bought for $3.00...

Wher can a guy buy 1095 in thick stock for forging? I have the bug to forge some bowies while my knee is healing.
