Just finished this one this morning, the new owner has been very patient as it took me longer than anticipated. He wanted alot of knife, but to keep it at a maximum length of 12". So I figured to give him more edge for the overall compact length we would go with a recurve. Blade is 7" x 1-3/4" at the widest area, forged 1095, 12" overall, Macassar Ebony, 416 SS tubing for pins.

Took a while, but was fun to finish, first wood handle ive done in a while... theres lots of contour in the handle you cant see in the pics.

That is beautiful work. I am sure that when the customer gets it, he/she will know immediately that it was worth the wait. Great job!

Very nice Matt. Beautiful hamon. Tubing adds a nice touch. I heard someone say they used steel automotive brakeline. Is that what you use?

well thanks guys, i do appreciate feed back of any kind, just makes ya feel better when its good!

Kevin, ive used tubing from aircraft scrap bins, automotive etc. But i think this was ordered from K&G, Sheffield, Texas or one of the other vendors.

Well I was going to post pics of my new knife. But since he's done it for me I guess that it's not necessary. What do you guys think? Was it worth the wait? I do...Mike

Looks like your hand wasn't steady when you did the final sanding. All those waves on the blade ... a bit of extra work with a 600 grit would get rid of them in no time :D
Just kidding, amazing hamon  and a very balanced design. I like it a lot, in fact it's the one I like best from what you posted so far. Wow!

Matt,
Great recurve.
That hamon freaks me out.

Echo,
Nice score!

Very nice. How much were you thinking about the relationship between the variation in hamon depth and the shape of the recurve when you were putting the clay on?
