I'd recommend the old U.S. Schrade 15OT Deerslayer. Great knife with a lot of history. It comes in at around 10.5" overall, and if that's too long, maybe look around for the other U.S. Schrade fixed blades.

thx - cpr

I'm in agreement with Raining, Maybe the ESEE Junglas will appeal to you.

I own a RAT RTAK II and love it. It's basically an old ESEE Junglas. It has done everything I have asked of it and you can grab it for around $110. It's the third RAT knife that I bought, so I'm in agreement with ron_m80 and Raining, go ESEE!

according to ragweed forge, mora's in carbon are made with 1095. i have one and it works well. i think the Becker Necker also comes in 1095 crovan (so i guess it's a stainless 1095?)

Esee / RC-4 Overall length: 9.0"

Esee / RC-5 Overall Length: 10.88"

Or if you can find an older US made Schrade like orca8589 said or an old Western.

I realize this is a little longer than the OP feature list - but as far as I know all the various "official" versions of the so called Ka-Bar USMC knife have been spec'd by contract with 1095. This is the knife that made me pay attention to this steel - it will bend-you can chip it - but it's very hard to actually break one. Takes a nice edge and is not much of a chore to resharpen. I have seen shorter bladed versions - but since these were not gov't contract pieces - not sure if they are 1095 steel?
Heck -everyone needs to use one for awhile to understand the benchmark for hard use utility knives.

Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but it is 1095 and has a 9.5" blade. Perhaps not as nice as an ESEE knife, but it's solid and only cost around $60.

The ESEE-4 is 9 in overall and a terrific knife in 1095. It would be tough to do much better than that.

+1

I love mine!

It is nearly perfect IMHO. The only thing I would change on it would be adding 1/4 - 1/2" (6-12mm) to the handle length. My grip is a bit tight. For small to medium hands it is perfect. My big mits could use a bit more room. But it's not too bad.
