The biggest one I've ever forged and done a hamon on. As promised to the customer, it was intended as a matching "big brother" to the 6inch Firestorm version I posted earlier. Its taken me the best part of 3 weeks and 9 separate sessions to finish (3x longer than anything else).I reckon its taken me even longer trying to get good pics of the hamon...

Specs - 10.25inch forged 1095 blade, just under 3/16inch final thickness at the ricasso. Multi-layered hamon with my new method of clay-backed quenching. Heat blued fittings. Steel tang frame, amboyna burl handle slabs. Skull-crusher pommel (textured). 6inch version shown for comparison.

Balances 1inch in front of the guard. Takes a full fencing grip and makes a nice "swishing" sound when casually swung around... :D

Comments appreciated. Now, some sleep would be good ... Cheers. Jason.

That has got to be one of the finest sets of knives I've ever had the pleasure of looking at.............unbelievable work my friend!

Your skills have got to be right up there with the very best, IMHO........ Your artistic sense and talent, coupled with your advanced forging/knifemaking abilities put you in a catagory with few other makers to my notion. :)

BRAVO!!!!!!!!

Jason, send it to me, I'll make something up to tell the customer... :)

I'm going to have to get a knife from you soon, no doubt about it.

One day, you'll hear people say things like: "Man, I got this Cutter for $600, can you believe they were ever so cheap? " :)

Jason, as a big bowie type of collector, that fo me is your best yet - really impressive, and a really fantastic looking hamon. The guard and ferrule are also superb.

Wow! I love them. The choice of wood is spectacular, and the hamon on those are just dreamy. I really like the details you put in the guard and ferrule.

Great hamon, and excellent details on the handle- the guard, the figure of the wood... as a big Bowie fan, I hope to see more!

Your skill with the detail is stunning...this is the difference between ordinary and extraordinary!

I totally agree, sometime in the near future...Jason's work will fly through the roof and folks will have to wait 3 years to get one (been waiting for my Emerson 5 years running now...).

J,
This Bowie just BLOWS me away....gotta start another project with ya'.....you'll be hearing from me....SOON! :D

Eric.

That one positively rocks! As much as I like the long blade, cool hamon and gorgeous wood, my favorite feature is the textured treatment of the fittings. Great work Jason!

Jason, this is getting boring. All you ever do is produce outstandingly beautiful knives that I keep lusting after. When are you going to produce a POS that I hate? :D

Does the 200+ pieces I keep in a dark drawer, never to be shown to the world, count ? Those are the omagawd flawed pieces, early, horrible grotesque experiments, etc. To build the 10inch blade, and ensure that my forging, HT skills were up to scratch, I had forged 2 other 9-1/2 and 10inch blades that were tested to destruction, that look reasonably ugly ... :D

Seriously, thanks again for the kind words from everyone. I'm very grateful for the support, and for the gentle push from others to keep extending my boundaries and skills.

Cheers. Jason.

wow...very nice work. I gotta say that is some of the finest forged worked I have seen for a LONG time!!...very nice flowing lines and details..!

Jason, you just won an award for being the Most Consistently Good Knifemaker! :D
