Hey fella's i was wondering if anyone here has harvested a deer with a 10mm handgun. I'm just getting into the 10mm caliber, i just aquired a delta elite off one of my shooting buddies and am curious about it's performance. He said it's a good caliber and shoud do the job with some 180's or 200 grainers at reasonable handgun ranges. I'm looking forward to hearing from the 10mm shooters first hand experience on this subject.
Thanks Doug

Doug ive not hunted with the 10, but it would be a good choice for a handgun hunting cartridge. Not sure if he will chime in here but Anthony Lombardo has done quite a bit of research/shooting with the 10.

youtube has some videos of hog-hunting with a G20, it seems to work fine!

Thanks Matt looking forward to it hopefully he'll chime in with his experience on the 10mm.

D762 Ted Nugent on camera killed a large whitetail buck with a 10 mm at 50 yards. One shot and the buck was done. I have never hunted with a 10 mm but have hunted with 357,44 and 454 Casull. The 10 mm is suppose to be close to a 41 magnum as far as power. Our department we use 40 calibers which are necked down 10 mm and I would shoot a deer at 50 yards with it. But I also practice out to 100 yards with the 40 just to prove to staff that you can make long range shots with it.

Bigcountry sounds like your a heck of a shot with a handgun 100yrds with the 40. I guess the 10mm shoots pretty flat. I used to have a 357 sig and it shot really flat. Thanks for the imfo.

D762 I get a lot of practice being a master firearms trainer for our department. with the Glock 40 I have to hold on the top of the head of the target to get center mass hits.I carry a Glock 23 off duty.

not sure if the 10mm is legal in NC to hunt game with. .357 and 44mag sure. barrel has to be a certain length though

Sounds good guys, i checked out a few videos on the net and it looks pretty powerful and hits pretty hard. Looks like it should work very well at 50 yrds and under. A range which i feel comfortable shooting at game at with open sights.

Stoked up loads for the 10mm will do in a pinch IF you are a decent shot. Many people can't hit very well with the full house 10mm loads due to the punishing recoil, but there are some that can, having rehearsed many long hours at the range. Use a heavy pill, upwards of 200 grains for the maxium 'sledge' hammer action. The Delta is a wonderful firearm and should perform well in harvesting deer if you can keep your cool and pull off a pinpoint shot. Don't be upset if you miss one though...there is a reason people use the rifle for such things. Mine will be an M44 in 7.62 Russian.

Yes i've shot some american eagles out of the delta elite and i thought it kicked about like a 9mm. I'm going to get some double tap 200's for hunting. I'm sure those have a little more recoil but probably not anymore than my 44 mag that i shoot. I was shooting steel plates at 25yrds at the range the other day it definately hits with authority with the 180 grainers. Can't wait to get some full house loads though.

You shouldn't have a problem I used to own a Glock 20 and for a semi-auto pistol it had quite a bit of grunt the 10MM is an incredible cartidge especialy when you handload.
