Here's one I recently finished. Blade is 1095 with a "clayless" hamon, mild steel guard with tamboti handle and domed stainless steel pin. Hopefully I'll get a chance to start a sheath this weekend, then she goes up for sale!

I'd love to hear input from you guys, as this one is an unorthodox design... I'm wondering how it will strike everyone.

Sorry for the crummy pictures, my photography skills are lacking.

Thanks for looking!

now that's my kind of knife!

Looks great, Matt. I tend to prefer a choil but on a big knife like this you don't really need one. How did you produce the hamon?

I think that is way cool Matt - I love the long clip and the hamon looks great. The knife kind of strikes as a bit of Mediteranean Dirk meets bowie. I quite like it.

Roger

PS - after the Mojo, I thought you weren't EVER going to do another 11" blade. :p

Very nice work,
Love the hamon and the grain of the tamboti.
What kind of edge did you put on her?

wow! not bad for a guy with 3" of diamond cutter.

super nice piece man, i really like the handle, simple but looks very comfortable, what are you planning for the sheath?

sweet sweet blade man

Very nice Matt!
We need the dimensions. How do you get a clayless hamon? A super fast quench?

Elizabeth says " Matt doesn't make knives, where'd he get that?"

also 'let Jill take the pictures from now on'

Paul says:

The man's been through solid matter, for crying out loud. Who knows what's happened to his brain? Maybe it's scrambled his molecules. All I'm saying is, Mr. President, let's not panic.

Big-boo-TAY!!!!!

Is that Jesus under the floor boards? Did he get you a T- shirt yet?
Nice knife.....cool blade!

Wulfie, Chris, I took the blade through a handful of grain reducing cycles to reduce hardenability (maybe), then quench after a low temp austenitizing cycle. It can be tricky to get it to perform the way I want, but when it works it tends to do so wonderful stuff. I think I need to etch this one more to bring it out a bit...

Bill. I always roll the edge in on them on a slack belt, then take the edge to final with a great hard Arkansas stone I've got, then strop.

GrinderMcgee, the single guard is one of the reasons I shied away from calling this a bowie. The clip isn't sharpened, but I would always be willing to do that at the customer's request.

Lord John Worfin out.

Blade is just shy of 11" long and 1-3/4" wide, with a handle 5-1/4" from front of guard to butt.

SO I was thinking I didn't actually tell you what I like or don't about this knife. I like the lines on this knife and the guard. I am not really diggin the top grind, either needs to follow the clip or continue on the spine more IMO. Alos the no ricasso is not my cup o' tea. That being said I'd like to see it in person.
Paul

I don't see how it can be a fighting knife.
It's missing all the cool tactical bling.:D
