Just got a 110 that has seen a ton of use (read as "abuse").

It has a ton of crud inside. I do not have the tools (read that as "skill") to take one apart.

Who knows what bio-hazard crap is living in this puppy.

Any suggestions or "Hint's From Heloise" on how to get this clean down into it's guts?

Thanks for the gumball Mickey!

I have gotten into the habit of keping a handful of Q-tips in my cleaning kit. They are a tight fit, but can be worked into the frame to get the crud out...

I have been knows to use something like go-jo hand cleaner and an old stiff paint brush or tooth brush.

I also use "copius quantities" of wd40 along with a brush of some sort.

I just got one in like that also... Mine has all the bolsters screwed up with some names lightly etched on them. Grrrrrrrrrr

I am also thinking of taking some tru-oil to the wood scales after I get this one cleaned up. Haven't thought through that much tho...

Do some before and after pics Goose. I bet mine is dirter than yours. :o

Good Point Tom,

After I get the crud out of one, it goes through the hot water/soap/air routine also. I think my air compressor is the most used tool I have.

I let the final hot water rinse run as hot as I can get it. It will warm the metal and help dry it after you blow the water off of it.

Thanks to all for your tips. I'm thinking this 110 I got will need a bit of every one of your suggestions.

So far as a pic, my camera doesn't have that resolution to express the detail.
Here, try this...go out to a sewer grate after a storm where the rain washes oil into the sewer...you know that black mucky stuff? Or squid ink with lint?
You can't even see the locing mech, spring, etc. Just a black solid line of crud.

Someone here mentioned cutting tar paper with his 110...that's probably his knife... :D
Roofers also scribe a line on their shingles to break them apart...any pieces of roof shingle sand in there??? ;)

Regret the glare in the bottom pic. Wanted some light so I put 'em on my desk to show the crud inside the 110FG.
The Wally 110 is simply gorgeous...amazing quality...matched well scales are grained nice and tight. Zero blade play/wiggle.
That 112 is growing on me. Been futzing with it all day long.
