Hello,
I finally had time this afternoon to look at my literature and confirm that standard factory production finger grooved 110s and 112s were first manufactured in 1982. I have a copy of a Buck news release dated July 1, 1982 which announces these knives.
Now, I know that other finger grooved models were done before this time but they were concept knives, prototypes or employee free lance knives. Indeed, I own a 112 finger groove which came from a former Buck sales rep (not Vern Taylor) and he claims it was an early concept knife. The grooves are noticeably deeper than those of the standard production variety.
