Like other Dymondwood handles, it is a primarily a Birch laminate. On flat slab handles like the 110, the top laminate layer(s) can be replaced with other woods such as Oak. Performance will be identical.
I've been carrying this 112 with oak & pins daily since I got it (the year before the 50th for the 110) and it still looks about like this. The brass bolsters show some light scratches and the wood has some light dents but that's it. FWIW
