You know Jim I did not like it at first ...But I got the old stone's out yesterday
and went to work on it.The only thing is Deer season closed Saturday and
I will have to wate until next year to do more field testing.I did get her purty
sharp though.Well I guess that I could put up mater's with her first.;)

New kodaks are almost as good as a new Buck :).

Besides, spike n doe season runs to the 20th .... get on back out there.

Well Larry I would love to But Our land owner doesn't let us do the Spike
and Doe season. So I'll just have to practise my sharping and pic
taking skills. But I do hope that you have good luck. And .. gives us
another Buck field test report.:D

Cool pics Hawkeye. Ever get to try your 889 out on deer? I carried mine for the season but it never saw blood, unless you count that semi-cooked steak I had for dinner one night :barf:

Here is my 110 / 889 combo from a last summer:

Goose and Messy.. Thanks for the kind words on the pic's.That would be
hard on a Marine to carry.Messy..no I did not try the 889 on deer this year.
I was field testing the Buck _ _ _ and The bas pro 110 .So the 889 has not drawn deer blood yet.I did skin a rodent with it after a squirrel hunt.It might have been a little large for that. Can
you pass me that plate ?

Well JB.. I don't know if it was just me,or just my BP110 but it did not cut
through the neck hair and neck hide like my other 110's do.It did cut the
meat part good and I tryied it on both trips but was not happy with
the hair and hide cutting part.So... I got the old sharping stones out the other day and got a hair popping edge on her now.
I think what I will do is get one of them AG110's that you and the others have been crowing about.Becouse I have read too many good reports from the Deer woods and field about how it cuts and stays sharp.I think if the BP110 would have been as sharp when I got it as it is now I would not have had anything bad at say about it.Here again I could just be me.It is built
like a bank vault and the scales look great.I am getting use to the dark blade.
It just was not as sharp or it didn't cut like a Plain Jane 110 you can get at
WM or anywhere.
Anyway Thanks for asking

Jeff,,,thats pretty much the same thing I experienced with a nib BP CPM154 back around Thanksgiving. Started out on the hide with the BP and quickly changed over to the AG S30V. Working the meat after the hide was off seemed ok though.

Yea. I thought that we had talked about this.Have you tryied to sharpen you BP110. It might just be the sharping person for the BP110 had a bad day and me and you got the only two 110's that were not good and sharp.

No,,haven't put any time into it as yet. Lazy....

Hi Jeff & Larry,

Thanks for your evaluations...will have to wait until you guys get another chance at a deer with a freshened up edge!!! It could have just been an issue with the factory edge like you stated Jeff. I had that happen with my boys new out of the box 119 two years ago....split the belly hide and the edge rolled!!!!:(. I took the Lansky to it, and it worked like it should afterwards.

I was so happy with my "05" AG in Deer camp. It cut those hides like it was a light saber from star wars!!!!! I field dressed and skinned five Deer with it, and it was still sharp enough to keep going.
