Howdy, all!
I was just looking thru my meager 110 collection, when I found one I forgot about.
One side of the blade is stamped
BUCK
110
U.S.A.
The other side is blank. The handle has only 3 pins, one steel and two brass.
Any idea when this one was made, and what blade steel it has? i was thinking of sending it in for a blade swap, but I am reconsidering it. The blade profile is slightly different from my newer 110's.
Thanks a lot!

Howdy!!! :D

We've been discussing this issue in other threads; IIRC, Joe was going to see if he could find out when/why the profile was changed [long chamfer to short]...

The prevailing theory is that the long chamfer/long clip was shortened to strengthen the tip, which seems to be the most notable reason for blade replacement...(broken-off tip)... :)

Yours was made between 1971-1973, the "110" was added to the tangstamp in 1971, and a dot "." was added to either side of the "110" in 1974. The steel is 440C.

Thank you very much!
I think I will keep this one as is, as it is 440c. It is kind of beat up, but I am sure a little effort will fix it up.
Plus, I really do like the blade style. Now that I notice it, the longer clip is pretty cool looking, and stands out in my herd of 110s.
I believe one of my newer 110s will be packing it's bags to head out for a blade exchange.

Your welcome, I've done the blade exchange thing myself and it's a great deal, 35.00 and you can get a premium steel blade in a classic workhorse knife!
