On Russian forum I just read a story, when guy like to buy Alaskan Guide from Cabela's and was told that goverment of US consider it (Buck 110 Alascan Guide) as a letal weapon (?!) and banned it for export???!!!

What is it?

It is not a big deal to buy Buck 110 everywhere all around the world. What is so spetial about Alascan Guide modification?

(Original thread - http://www.knife.ru/Forum/read.php?f=1&i=68258&t=68258)

Thanks, Vassili.

I just talk to Chris from Cabela's and she sad that by federal law shippment of Buck 110 Alaskan Guide as well as any knife of any sizes, which is considered as letal weapon, are banned to any place outside US - even Canada! She sad that they even can not ship to Alaska because it will cross Canadian border!

This is rediculos! Anybody shipping any kind of knives to almost any place on the Earth and Cabelas for some reson came up with such bann?

Thanks, Vassili.

That's hilarious. They should put this in the description: "Note: Alaskan Guide not available in Alaska" :)

We sell alot of our tactical stuff in Europe (much more "Lethal"), so I am not sure how it gets there. Maybe we have a team of smugglers?

Sounds like a miscommunication or something. Hate think they would lie.

This is one of the craziest things i have read in awhile. Should rename it the UnAlaskan Guide.

Yup I am in Canada and can't get it online from their website. Where I can get other more tactical looking knives like the Emeson PUK, SOG mini autoclip in with no problem, I don't think if I order a "regular" Buck 110 it will have any problem for me to get it as well... something must be wrong in here.

Cabelas has a distribution wharehouse in Ontario. I just got two benchmades from them like last week and they came through there. I ordered them online. Are you guys saying Cabelas will only not ship the alaskan 110? Doesnt make much sense.

Well I talk to them and Chris told me that. So I bet Cabela's just "smaggle" those "letal weapon" Benchmades to Canada. Chir sad that any knife is a letal weapon.

Thanks, Vassili.

I had to pay a brokerage fee and tax. No smuggling involved.

When I ordered s couple custom 110's from buck is was the same deal. They were shipped through their Canadian warehouse, though I beleive Buck covered the brokerage fees.

I did notice the Alaskan 110 is on back order from Cabelas right now though. Maybe that has something to do with it.
