110 and 112 -bench stone angle

Well, I just fingered this out:

When sharpening 110's and 112's, just raise the spine one spine-thickness (i.e. 1/8 inch) above the bench stone surface to get a precise 15 degree bevel angle(which matches the factory "edge-2-edge" bevel).

Sounds like you got it figured out. You would be surprised at how many folks try to sharpen by laying the blade flat on a stone without raising it up at all. I always recomend starting there and raising it up until you match the factory anlge.
This can be a bit hard on the older knives but those with the e2k edge should be much easier to resharpen.
 
OK...being anal-retentive... I got out the calipers and trig tables to check this closer. :rolleyes:
1/8 inch clearance gives 14 degrees.
1 spine-width clearance gives 12 degrees.
(because the spine width is a little less than 1/8 inch)
