I ran into these 2 and was pleasantly surprised at quality of these 2 knives and different colors ,but noticed these didnt have thumbstuds.I live in Canada,is this version for Canadian market ?Ill pick one up anyways...

Interesting, I would like to see a picture. I've thought about removing the thumb studs on these, they do get in the way sometimes. I guess I would still rather have them though. The best for me would be one side only (and removable to switch sides for lefties). Also, since I'm rambling, file some cross pattern notches on the tops of these studs for better grip.

I know the slim was designed to be a more "modern " style folder I just think the thumb studs take away from its 110Ness lol. You can't deny the convenience of one but aesthetically I like the nail notch.

^borrowed from a canadian knife seller site. 110 canadian slim version.....

you cant remove the american version thumbstud, unless ya want a hole in the blade where the thumb stud is.......

The blue one is the one im getting, also am getting one for my cousin who is professional truck driver, hell love it.

nice and a nice gift. I'm jealous.:)

I thought about getting a Canadian one. even with the very strong usa dollar fx rate right now, it isnt worth the shipping costs and premium to buy from Canadian knife seller. course not sure theyll even mail to usa, I never checked?

So the Canadians get a 110 slim that's actually a 110 and we get some abomination that is only 110 in handle shape ?

That blue one pictured does appear to have an actual 110 blade.

"abomination" is a bit too harsh a term there. these are great knives.

remember, it's a knife to get modern knife fans who want one hand opening and pocket clips and while bringing made in america and low price value into the buck realm. along with using their strong branding of 110 and 112. that's the way I see it.

canadians, and you too could for a premium to ship down from Canada, get that version cause of their importing laws against knives. I like both versions. I'd like buck to offer both in usa

I get the modern features, it's the calling it a 110 when the blade shape says otherwise that I don't get.

I guess I just expect the 110 to have a particular blade.

i get what you're saying, just thought the word abomination was too harsh a choice.

question...... a drop point version 110...not a 110 to you?

I would call Buck and ask for a Canadian version.

I’ve had my 110 slim pro for about two months and so far the thumb studs haven’t caused any problems or been bothersome. As a large size carry edc I hardly know it’s there but it took some time getting used to the slim handle while using it in hand. I use the thumb stud about half the time and two hand it the rest of the time. I did grind a finger groove and tapered it for easier opening and it gives a better grasp for heavy cutting. I do think the newer blade shape is an improvement for its design as it glides in more smoothly puncturing thick material.
So for thumb studs on the 110 slim, I can take em or leave em. Either way it’s a really good knife.

Its Bucks knife they can call it whatever they want. It may be different but still a variation of a 110. They are probably trying to avoid getting to many model #'s.
Personally I have no use for a clip blade so i am happy to see the modified one and even happier with a drop point.

Until a couple years ago i only carried a 501, and occasional 484. Although functional i never have liked a thumbstud on these smaller knives (also removed the thumbstud from a nobleman)it seemed to get in the way.
Since i started carrying the 486 for the last couple years and the slims here recently I have grown rather fond of the thumbstuds, and with the larger blade they dont seem to get in the way.
Personally i like a nail nick even if it has a thumb stud.

When I think 110 I picture the classic clip point but everything else on them is all classic 110 so I can't complain too much.

Calling this a variant of the 110 is like Calling a Grand Cherokee a version of the CJ because the grill is is the distinct Jeep style.
