Hi All,

I just got a NIB 110 Aqua Fibron.....it's realy nice. Anyone know how many of these were made? Thank you Harold K. it's truly as new in box.

Thanks for any help with this question.

I think it was in the early to mid-1990s but if you will reveal the year mark on the tang stamp (it follows the 110), we will have a better indication.

Hi Larry,

Thank you for the reply. I know from the tang stamp / that it was made in 1994. Any idea how many of this Aqua Fibron may have been made?

I used to use Aqua Velva but I can't find anything on the web about the composition of "fibron".

What is "fibron"?

JB4570,
Sorry, I mis-read your question. I am not sure how many of these were made but it is possible that Buck used the nickel silver frames left over from the USS Iowa 110 project. The USS Iowa knives featured blades with a Buck Custom USA stamp and were a 1995 project with a production of 100. It is not inconceivable that the excess frames were incorporated into this project. Also, these knives could have been overruns from another Buck special project. Do you have the box with a catalog number? I seem to remember the model # for this knife was 110AQ but I will have to check my records to be sure.

Fiber Reinforced Plastic:
A composite structural material containing high-strength fibrous embedded reinforcements which develop mechanical properties greatly superior than the base resin.

My Aqua Fibron has the double dash 1992 tang stamp with the same 8869 cat #
with nickle silver bolsters. Short gray box # 0110-AQ-0

The Black Fibron has brass bolsters cat# 8856 with the 1994 tang stamp. Long black box 0110-BF-0

Just to add to the cornfusion.
