I just had a quick chat with a Buck Customer Service Rep on their website. Apparently all Buck 110 black leather sheaths will no longer have the "flat strap" style belt attachment, but will rather now be the "loop style" like they used to previously produce. I think this was part of the rollout of the new Ebony 110's as their standard model, which they confirmed all come with sheaths with the loop style now. Also, individual replacement black leather sheaths will also be the loop style from now on.

I absolutely hated that flat strap sheath they had been selling the last few years. It rode way too high and was uncomfortable.

I recommended that they include a picture or two on their website, so people clearly know what they are purchasing and are aware of the change.

Maybe has something to do with current inventory. Not sure though.

I only have one of the flat strap ones. Unused.

Much to my surprise the nylon sheath holds up better than the leather ones.
Nothing surprising about that, the leather just looks a lot better. I'd rather go thru 2-3 leather ones than use the nylon. Although I will say the nylon that came with the SK Shield buck lt with the blue trim on it looks real nice!

I'm good with any of them. nylon, flat strap, loop strap. doesnt matter. kinda like the flat strap better due to how it sits on the belt. loop strap falls down to back pocket level gets in the way of my wallet removal. not a big deal though.

all loop strap ones currently are made In America right? so I'm okay only getting loop strap ones.

USA made or Mexican made, for the sheath I don't care. I like leather, and I like the loop strap. I won't use the flat strap. The sheath I'm using now had a flat strap. I cut it off. Cut the sheath open, sewed on a loop strap, and then sewed the sheath back up. That was easier than making a new sheath from scratch. I would rather have a sheath made in Mexico from full grain leather, than one made in the USA from distressed leather. I have two sheaths made from distressed leather. To me it looks like they are made from split leather, and called distressed because that sounds better.

I've never had good luck with nylon sheaths. They always frayed at the seams. But to be fair, I have never used one made by Buck.

I’ve had the same experience with nylon sheaths in the past. So when I ended up with one for the 110 I figured I’d use it for a few weeks and throw it away. Daily for work it has lasted a couple years so far. Still going strong.

I’ve worn out 20 or more 110 sheaths over the years. So when I see a good deal on them I buy them up. I’ve got a box full of them now.

The old leather ones would either wear through at the bottom bolster, or the strap would wear at the top. The newer leather ones seem to stretch and get floppy and baggy.

Yep, when the hole at the bottom bolster got big enough, that I thought the knife, might almost be able to fall through. It was time for a new sheath.

I've carried a 110 in the nylon sheath for years. No issues. I like it better. Stays tight to my body so it doesn't get caught on things. Feels more concealed too. I wear it daily at home, not work.

I must be in the minority. but I like the flat strap. When I wear the loop, the knife tends to reach out and grab things. Lol!

It also catches on things. I do like that it rides lower and has more give when you're in a tight situation, slides on your belt easier. So I guess with everything you have some bad with the good...

Yeah, that was actually what I was saying by it "reaches out and grabs things". I wear mine at work and with keys, a cell phone, a badge, and a knife, all on my belt, I can't get through any tight spot without hanging up on things.

First post on this site, and glad I joined.
Bought two 110s last night,an LT and the regular.
LT came with the cloth sheath and the reg came with the black leather.
I like the cloth one better, seems to fit sugar to my body, and I just dont like black leather.
If it were brown,I'd like it,because I like the strap better.
But not complaining, cause $35 at the store for an ebony wood slab bed 110 with a leather sheath is a steal of a deal.
