110 Blade replacement

I (still) have 3 of my older 110s. 2 1986s and an 87. If I were to send these knives in for blade replacements is it possible to have the blades from the 'original' year or is the only option replacement with the current production blade?
Too much to assume that there are 'stockpiled' blades for each year?

I'm not sure they are taking stuff right now do to the move, buy I sent in a 1991 110 last fall with a broken blade and got a new 2004 blade.

I looked at the Buck site and could find no pricing for blade replacement? Ideas?

Do a search here, there are several threads, basically, just send the knife to BKI with a $35 dollar money order and a note on what steel you want. You might want to ask if the Idaho plant is set up for it yet first.

Thats the cost for blade upgrades to BG42, ATS 34 etc. They don't charge for replacing blades damaged from normal use.

oh... I did not know you liked jap steel... sorry.

Was there a point to this off topic statement?

I like good steel no matter where it is made, maybe I should have gotten 154CM instead?...of course you are aware that is the same steel?

I owe you a big apology! And I do give my apology to you sir. It is that I had you mistaken you for another who, like me preferred USA steel and they made some more pointed comments then I do

Of course I knew, they stopped making 154CM for a while and every one went to Japanese ATS -34 but as I understand, the 154CM is again being made in the USA... I feel we or rather, buck, should use it, as it is the ats that is a copy! In Japan it is used for tableware stainless ...

AND

I have every respect for the Japan Blade Making Smiths. They were doing patterned welded blades far long before the woos steel of damasks and patterned welded steel that is mimicking the woose.

It is only that I have a problem with labeling sir, not the quality of the product!
If you check the label on the ats blade you will see what I mean... and that is were I have an issue with ATS-34.
Again my apologies sir...

We're cool! I think I see what you mean, but as for labeling, I don't think Buck buys blades made in Japan, but buys the steel then makes the blades from it, so I don't see waht they would need to label as far as country of origin?

I'm not sure why Buck imports the ATS-34, unless it's so much cheaper that they can buy and ship it under the american 154Cm price. If that's the case, that's sound business.

Gentlemen, answer me this. If I send in a couple of 110's and mabe a couple of 112's for the blade upgrade. Can I get S30V? I have searched and searched but haven't found that specific answer as yet.

Thanks

No as of right now, Buck does not offer s30v as an upgrade, Cabelas does offer a Buck 110 Alaskan Guide series with s30v for 59.99, with TNT coating and rosewood scales, I have one and they are NICE!

I'm hoping they expand their steel choices and offer D2. Buck 110 stag handles and D2 blade mmmmm, don't that sound nice. :D

Hey Tom, when did they start offering s30v?

That should be a big seller!

I sent in a 110 just before the move and they were out of BG-42 blades at the California plant. Joe checked around and found a few S30V blades and offered to install one of those instead. :)

OK, then it may not still be fully available yet. They were out of BG-42 when I sent mine also, that's why I went with ats-34.

p.s. You gonna make it to the Marion Gun and Knife show the 18th-19th?
