Someone in another thread asked a similar question about engraving, and one of the recommendations was to take it to a jeweler...I don't know of any high-end jewelers around here who do actual engraving; they just use a little vibrating tool that ain't worth diddly-squat...

...But at a gun show I saw a real engraver working...magnifying goggles; mallet and engraving tools; 360* vise; etc...I asked him if he could restore serial numbers and original markings (most of my refinishes remove almost all markings) and he said no problem; just supply a pic of what I wanted...

So...Check your local gun shops, or shows...ask for an engraver...and save pics of that knife... ;)

The engraver that you are talking about is Mike Pardue of Midland, Texas. He is a good friend of mine and does awesome engraving like the ones I have. You can look at his website at www.parduesilversmith.com . He charges $65.00 for a 110 and turnaround time is within a month. Very nice, honest guy. We talk on the phone about once a month.:)

Arks,
Do you know if he does any engraving on the blade or back spring like some of Michael Prater's 110's?
Mike

Yes, he can do file work also on the blade and backspring. Jeff Jones from Jones Cutlery does very nice filework that compares to Prater's work. I have 2 really nice 110's that he did for me and am waiting on the third. If you give me an e-mail address I'll send you some pictures of his work. I have started doing a little but mainly doing the rehandling of the 110's.

Sorry for the repeat Trax. Hey, what kine steel on a Solo? (just kidding ya Sink ;) )
I should've done a search...but I'm impatient and codependent. Actually I guess I simply didn't think of searching.

"Restore serial numbers"? Hmmm...I should look into getting my scoot engine and frame numbers to match my registration...WHOOPS!!! Mike is watching!!!! (that badge avatar kine scares me BTW...I just watched "16 Blocks").

I digress....back on track...
Thanks to all you Buckaroos for your replies. I am definitely gonna look into it.
