110 Box Date?

deri, that box (one piece open top) was used all through the dots series. Two dot, three dot and four. But yours has 'New' printed on it making it for the 4 dot model 110. So, about 1982. My papers have a date on them, you might check for one. The sheath will be a straight top cut not scalloped top. DM

This has been discussed before. As I recall, "NEW" referred to the edges of the knife handle being radiused. That change took place during the 4-dot time period. A quick check of the catalogs finds the "NEW" radiused edges first mentioned in the 1984 catalog. The boxes were used for a few years thru the mid-80's so sometimes they can be found with early date coded knives.

Addendum... a quick look in my cabinet finds a 1987 ">" 110 in the same box.

1984 catalog page first mentioning rounded handle edges, the "NEW" feature.

In Blade's Guide to Knives page 507 the article states, 'Buck began to hand radius the 110 in 1982'. I'll agree with the rest of your post. DM

To answer dri3ree's question more directly, your box was used in the early to mid 1980's.

I would like to see the words "BUCK KNIFE" on that box. Most of the time it was large taking up the whole top. Then for some period it was smaller font. I'm trying to get an idea of years for the small font with "New" on the box.

thanks 3ree. Does any of your paperwork have a date on it? Also, the flitz was only offered for a number of years.
