See a few posts pop in about busted tips on the 110. IIRC, seems they are "stock" 110 related.

Has anyone had a 110 w/ other than stock 420/440 steel pop a tip?

Inquiring Goose wants to know...

Mine has a broken tip. It's from the early 80s, IIRC. Don't know the steel. Just crumbled.

Any way to get it fixed?

yup ... send it to buck and they will put a new blade in it..
and no i have not heard of any one with a supper steel having a broke tip...
now i do know of some one that had a damascuss steel tip break...

No, Not yet .But I don't have that many. What did you do?
Hawkeye

I hope you was not doing the dart board thing?

The closest I came to that was a 110 with a S30V blade where about 1/32 of an inch broke off the tip. I simply went out to the garage and made a point again using my plane iron sharpener. I don't think anyone but me could even tell it had been broken. Unless Buck no longer carries a partcular steel, I'm sure they would put a new blade on one if need be.

Hi Brother Goose,

I'm hopping you are asking for a brother from another mother. If not I think we need some photo's and a story from you. Come on and give it up....messy needs to poke some fun at you this time;).

No Buck Brothers...
Didn't break a tip. Was just a random thought that entered my brain.
So, just wondering.

I would imagine that a Damascus would certainly be more prone to tip-chip compared to S30V, ATS34 or BG-42.

I think there is a broken dm 110 on the bay now. Not sure if it ended or not yet though.

Joe, WELCOME. It depends on what you did to get it in that condition. But often there is no charge. Buck has a great guarantee. But if its from the year you say, its was 440C. Which is legendary tough. DM

i had one that broke on me the other day :(

thrusted it into a fence and pulled it out and about 1/4 an inch of the tip was gone

I have to ask why? I will say I have stuck my 120 in my chopping block.... I never thought the tip would break.

BJ

BJ, I broke the tip on my 120 once while skinning. My hands were full of goo it was cold and the knife just slipped out and fell point first onto a rock breaking about a 1/16 off. Like Mike Kerrins example. Later I just carefully sharpened it back toward orginial and it works fine.DM
