I see that SMKW has a new "After Christmas" catalog on-line. It had two new, at least to me, Buck Knives. One is a 110 based on the brown bone 110 they had a few months ago. Only this one has engraved bolsters and is $20 more. Not my cup of tea, but you may be interested and it is a SMKW exclusive.

The other knife I saw was a 3 1/2" trapper with stag, made in China. I have one with wood and I kind of like the looks of the stag.

Yes, it was made here in our factory in Post Falls, ID. and the steel is 420HC. We do a lot of knives exclusively for different companies, such as Smoky Mountain, and that is the only place you can buy them.
Thank you

This is the response that I got from Buck when I asked these questions. This should set aside any doubt we have about the knife.

December 22, 2009 is the date on Peter's original post.

Of course I tried to find the engraved bolster Buck Script 110, BU4856E, and found no joy in early 2011, which is the year in which we find ourselves right now BTW. I got it bad. Bad enough that I read a rumor from a couple years ago and leap into an immediate search for such cutlery...

I wonder wonder wonder wonder wonder who, who has one of these engraved bolster Buck Script 110 knives from back in 2009 they could share a pic of?

Yeah, it was awhile ago. And your right the link doesn't work, I checked SMKW and they don't have that knife anymore. It was basically like the one on the link I have provided here, BUT it had script on the bolsters.

I didn't buy one, so I can't show you how it looks. My guess is that it was a limited production run for SMKW and they are all sold out.

"A dollar short and a year late."

Hmm, I don't know how I missed the engraved one. I bought a couple when they first appeared on SMKW's site but they have plain bolsters. If I'd seen the engraved one's I'm sure I'd have bought at least one.

I do remember the "Last Production Run" 111's that SMKW's had with both plain and engraved bolsters. I made sure that I got examples of each then. I can't imagine why I wouldn't have done the same with the BuckScript.

I'm hoping that some one here can post a picture of one of the engraved BuckScript 110's.
