It's been a while since we have mentioned the Buck Collector Tins. I finally bought a 110 Founder's Edition at a "Large Store" in Rural Utah. Cost me $30.00. I just took it out of the plastic sack and "Blister Pack", or whatever such 'Mastinations' are called in the modern world. Two things bothered me:
1. The picture of Al Buck on the tin lid is blurred and poor quality. I just checked my 112 Collector Tin that I bought last year with Hoyt Buck on the lid, and his picture is good quality. No excuse for poor picture quality this year.
2. The brass bolsters are scratched and dinged. Looks like somebody that had packaged it had a "bad" day. Over worked, tired, ticked or whatever.
I guess I'm glad for the purchase...... But! Sorry C.J. and Joe. You just got an honest report from the "hinterlands"!!

Hey, but there is SOME good news.

My 419 arrived and it is magnificent.

I will not attempt to buy any tins, I always had a bad feeling about them.

And my walnut and BG-42 grooved Custom 110 will arrive this week.

I have a feeling that will be good news as well.

Tins are tins and 419s and Customs are something else.

Hey, my 419 came Friday and I've already used it (See "The last thing you used your Buck on." thread!). My 408 came last month (WOW! - my Dam 110 and BG-42 110 in September. I found a 102BR, 103BR, 105BR, 119BR, & 120BR this year, too... life is good!

About the tins... couldn't you see the knife before you bought it? Mine is typically excellent (Actually, the only 110 I have ever bought that wasn't 'top drawer' is the 560XLT Crystal-Ti/110 blade I bought through the mail. Stiff!). I couldn't care less about the tin - or the 110 tin from '05... they just 'take up space' here... doubt they'll ever be valuable. The '05 keychain is cute. I thought about another tin this year - I doubt any will be left for after-Christmas mark-downs - they had six up the hill from me Saturday. The highly polished blade/weird no year marking makes the knife 'fun'. I doubt his signature will be there long.
