Been able to resist another CS 110, but my youngest girl is wanting to go to Post Falls and tour the Buck facility as my oldest and I did a summer or two ago. This also requires a visit to factory outlet (and likely Cabelas). My girls are big on tradition and it seems as we've established going to Post Falls to pick up, tour, and buy at the Buck factory as a summer to do activity and family tradition. Darn. :)

Want to order a rams horn 110 with nickel bolsters and am wondering about pins. Leaning toward no pins for nickel, would probably go pins with brass as I think the "honey and carmel" of the rams horn would be good with the "yellow" of the brass.

So what would you guys go with for nickel? Pins or not? Prefer brass to look at, but not for tarnish issues. Am thinking nickel requires less polish time.

If you phone in, can you get BG-42 still? What about CPM 154, or is it a Bass Pro exclusive blade option? Would like to get something other than S30V as I have alot of that in the house already, but then again, I could use one more Paul Bos heat treat S30V blade.

I'll try and get some pics of my Asian buff posted in the next day or two if ya folks want. Thanks for your consideration.

I just ordered one that should be on its way soon with the silver bolsters and the rams horn handle. I chose rivets because I think it completes the look. As you say the rams horn with the brass matches better and the brass rivets would look good on it but I think the nickel rivets draw your eye to "match" with the bolsters better. I have no idea if that made any sense or not. So I guess my preference would be with rivets but I like all buck's with rivets and think they look slightly unfinished without them. IMHO

This is so subjective.... Do what you like best.

Suggest you browse the picture thread up above. Lot of neat customs there to cornfuse you further.:D

Something you might think about is rams horn is a natural material and it will warp over time. My preference would be rivets not only for asthetics but for durability.

I have a 532 in Ram’s Horn and it is almost translucent out by the bolsters. You can see right down to the liner so I think the brass should look really nice. The 532 has NS and it looks fine but the brass should make the horn look warmer.

Here is a scan of a Brass/Rammy with pins

I have a CS 112 Rammy with NK & no pins due in any day now....so we will be able to do a 110/112 Rammy Brass or Rammy NK comparison....soon I hope.

In my opinion Rams horn looks way better with NO Pins, go to the picture
thread and look at pictures that have been posted.

There's no right or wrong answer here, it just depends upon what you find pleasing to the eye.

For myself, I don't like rivets in stag, elk, ram, or water-buffalo horn.
I only like the rivets in wood.

Thanks folks. Think it'll be no rivets, and brass, I'll just have to live with cleaning and fondling it often.

Here is a picture of my Ramy in brass and FGs. I think that brass and the color of the ram horn just got together.
