I have nothing but praise for these two capable beauties: 110 EcoLite Plum Red Paperstone (110rds1) and BuckLite Max Orange (486orsbc).

So I had to show you some photos of what has me excited and delighted:

Thank You for the pictures. It is a great way to compare the knives and the pictures are a great size. Thanks again. I like the EcoLite best.

My pleasure. Taking some photos helps me get to know the details of new knives and I just love it when I can enjoy someone else's knife thru pics.

The paperstone scales of the EcoLite are terrific. It is smooth, well-fitted to the knife (no gaps), comfortable in the forward and reverse grip, no sharp edges, no cracks at the pins and really quite pleasing to the eye. It feels rich and strong like micarta. A real compliment to the metal part of the knife.

I've never had a Bucklite, but the pictures don't really appeal to me. I do have an Ecolite 110 in red, and I do like that knife.

oregon thanks for the pics. The picture of the pocket clip on the Bucklite makes me me think it would be a great "option" on the Ecolite line.

A clip option on the Ecolites would make sense to me. It would fit nicely on the bottom end of the knife making for tip-up pocket carry. Attach the clip with drill and tap screws. There is plenty of metal inside the end of the knife for secure threads. The knife weighs 3.93 ounces. Not too heavy for pocket carry.

Free the EcoLites from their pouches. Good idea.

Of the pics shown above only 5, 8 and 12 (counting from top to bottom) come close to showing the real color of the scales. It is loud. Not covert and not subtle.

The lack of heft, 3.03 ounces, is something to appreciate by holding the BuckLite in your hand. I don't usually associate a big capable blade with low weight. For example, my Spyderco Endura 4 weighs 3.77 ounces and it is just a touch longer than The BuckLite. I appreciate the minimal weight that Buck has engineered into the BuckLite. It is easy to carry and what counts is the knife you have with you when it is cutting time.

The red Ecolite 110 has me charmed. It just feels rich and strong and this makes it beautiful to me.

Thanks!

Huge 110 fan but may need to look into the BuckLite Max if it's light and has a pocket clip option. Odds are I'll get both of them anyways though.

Nics pics and input, thanks!

Oregon, great photos, review and comparison. Thanks, Mike

Thank you Mike. I love this stuff.

You know... you could draw a picture of these knives on a cocktail napkin and they would still look good. These are just good looking knives.

Thank you for the kind words.

I was surprised at how much I like the orange BuckLite Max. It is easy to carry (lite weight and pocket clip), easy to find, easy to afford, has a big pointy blade with lots of belly and it looks real good to my eyes.

The Buck 110 is what a knife looks like. The Plum Red EcoLite is put together so clean and tight it looks like a watchmaker had a hand in it. You know I was expecting to find layers of the paperstone visible on all contoured surfaces of the scales (like you find on micarta scales) and there aren't any! What a great looking surface this stuff has. There is something, slight texturing perhaps, on the surface of the sculpted, for better grip, scales. There is a short and then a long contoured section on each side next to where the blade folds into. Here I see either micro layers or texturing left by the machining of these cuts. The paperstone is beautiful on the 110.

have any of you guys really looked at the EcoLite 110
really now .... note the steel liners!!!
gee ... imagine the rescaling possibility's!!

Cool knives. I like 'em both.

I'm a big fan of the Buck 110, but never carry it -- too heavy for shorts and such. These could be the answer.

Buck just came out with these terrific paperstone scales and you wanna do what! :D

The liners are abbreviated and only support the spine, pivot and bottom areas of the knife. I try to pinch the unlined edges of the scales toward each other and I don't see any movement/flex.

Y'know---I have enough knives with pocket clips.

I don't feel a need for a 110 with a clip.

I can always carry my Vantage Avid if I want to carry that way. ;)

wow nice picts and i also wander what magic new sides could bring!
i will have to include this in my displays some time..
mean time looks like a great EDC knife!

I really like my 486, and have the 1 hand opening & closing down pat...$20 well spent. The thumbstud & pocket clip are well designed not to hang-up with movements in & out of your pocket, and I prefer the modified clip point to a standard clip point.
