110 Ecolites, how are they holding up?

There was a lot of hoopla about these when they first came available and I'm wondering if they have lived up to all of it. Who is using one as an EDC and what are your thoughts about them after a period of time? Any issues?

I have been carrying the new style 110 with the washered pivot rivot and the washers on both sides of blade. It is flawless. It has got steady work but nothing real hard. I intend to gut at least one whitetail with it this year and hopefully 2. I love them.

Do I remember that you sent one back to Buck for a sticky blade or something and they made the modifications adding the washers?

I'm awaiting on the three BCCI S30V plum color paperstone 110's I ordered. One of those will be in my EDC rotation. I'll find out then.

P.S. It just occurred to me that the BCCI Paperstone 110s are not ecolites. They are a standard bald head 110 with paperstone scales. The Ecolite has a different frame structure. So sorry about derailing the topic. I know nothing about the ecolites and don't plan to buy one anytime soon.

I got a 110 that was stiff out of the box but some oil cleared it right up. I then got a 112 that would stick badly when closing and no amout of cleaning and oiling fixed it so I send it in for repair. It came back better but still needed oiling and then was fine. There was another forumer who had the problem with a 110 and apparently it was a widespread issue so Buck being the great company they are jumped up and made a correction. It was installing a washered rivot for the pivot ala the Bucklite as DM pointed out. Also there is now a washer on each side of the blade between it and the liner. When I got another one direct from Buck it had the new style. It has worked very well so far.

Here is what the 112 was doing

Here is a comparison shot between the 2 different styles

I have an earlier version before they put the extra washer/rivets into them. Carried it daily this summer for work in the woods. Liked the lighter weight since I was walking/on my feet all day.

Performed well and I have seen no issues at all with it, still running strong.

No issues with mine accept for me slamming the edge of my 112 version into concrete while cutting something.

Was a tad "toothy" until I sharpened it. :)

Thar's what I was thinking also. They are two totally different animals. Other than the paperstone handles on the BCCI models, there's really nothing to compare between them. I'd never have a doubt at all about the BCCI model living up to the 110's standards.

Yeah I love my ecolite but the BCCI knife is an out and out 110 with full liners and paperstone scales. Cant wait to get mine too:thumbup:

Being a recent addition to the BCCI, can someone point me to the newsletter with that paperstone 110 in it?

Thanks. Oh, and I love my Ecolite 112.

Ouch. Looks like it was August. Payment due 11/01.

Nice knife. Maybe they'll have more available later.
