Oh Grasshoppah...but we are :)
Sometimes you can fix that by cleaning it out with some hot water...gunk gets in there.
Send it to Buck or contact Leroy (triple-r-knives@cox.net ).
Nonetheless, that is a GREAT find you have there!

thanks for the info i cleaned the knife good when i got it home it does not have that tension that you have when the blade is about 1/2 inch from the body you know the kind that will bite you if you let go of the blade from that distance also i have seen in here that the older knives have better steel than the new ones when i send it to buck would it be wise to see about getting the blade replaced since most of it has been sharpend away i don't want to make the knife any thing less than what it was ment to be

Randy,Good buy.Your call on the new blade from Buck. However, finger groove 110's did not come out until 1981 w/ the 3dots.If yours has them it may have been a home job or at the customers request by Buck.DM

I'm definetely no Buck expert, but the fg's look non factory..

Either way it will serve you well for a lot of years. The 110's gotta be the best designed, well made, reasonably priced folder ever designed...

Yes,the finger grooves were not done by Buck.DM

thanks for the info yea i was going by the data sheet to find the year i am no buck expert either can any of you guys explain the difference between my knife and a factory f/g only thing i noticed was the body of the knife seemed a little smaller where the grooves are cut would be nice to be able to tell the difference between factory or not again thanks for the info:thumbup:

The factory finger grooves are much more shallow. If you have a knife store near you when you have time go and ask to see a 110FG and carry yours to compare.DM

Just realized that I do not have a 110FG Standard. But maybe these will help. Be aware that Buck CS knives vary (I have one or two BCS knives where the FGs go into the bolsters), but these two 110FG knives are closer to what I have seen to being standard issue than the keep cuts of your respective knife.

Certain that someone with more inventory will post for you. Until then, hope these do for now...

DM, I thought it was the 4 dot for 110s & 3 dot for 112s with the finger groove frames.
