I was wondering ya'll s opinion on how the knife is displayed in the box,do you think it will damage the lock bar or backspring of the knife if left in the semi-open position for years?I am thinking about storing it closed instead ,any opinions?thankx!merry christmas!:D

I left my last years Founder's Edition 112 in the tin, until this October, and when I finally opened it, the downside bolsters were dark brown where they were touching the black liner.

From now on, all mine get took out and stored in something else.

Hi RB,

One of the knives I got as a gift today is a 110X gold Train etch in an Oak case with a Scrimshaw marble top. This knife was made in 1990 and looks to have been stored in the Oak case; this kept the blade in a semi open position at all times. I just took it out and it shows no signs of any spring issues at all.

i would have said it was a bad thing to store one that way.

humm i got the knife and looking for the box top...
thinking of makeing a displaly of the ones i do have and try to get them all...
Herbert has his on his kitchen wall/shelf i think...

I think this is more of a problem with the Valox frame knives (426,422,425,etc.) than the others. I think the spring will be OK but the Valox distorts over time causing lock up problems. I believe high temperatures particularly caused by sun light will add to this problem.
