I you were to file down the kick on the tang of a 110 to lower the point of the blade in the handle by a couple of mm would this void the warrenty ?

Thanks

Dunc

If your blade won't go down in the handle far enough that the tip is exposed, might be a warranty item. Don't know for sure.

Are you sure it would??? Might not the blade edge hit the spring [the 3/32" rod one that tensions the rocker] then??? It might; it might not...

"You pays you money an' you takes you chances!"... :D

i have found that 'point showing' can be due to excessive sharping or due to the back spring being out of wack ... there are other reasons for point showing but i agree ...send it to buck!!!

too late , done it .The point wasnt showing above the handle but it was just under flush . I didnt use a file just the ruff stone on a lansky sharpener .I lowered the point about 2mm into the handle and it doesnt touch anything on the inside of the handle :D So in all im quite pleased with how it went .Heres a very poor qulity pic ,and as you can see it hasnt changed the look of the tang .Would just like confirmation a havnt messed up the warrenty.

Thanks Dunc

I think you're fine warranty wise...just don't want your knife to bottom out and give you a flat spot on the edge, that raised area is there to keep the blade from doing that.

Many thanks , The blade doesnt bottom out , it still has about 4mm to go if you push down on the blade against the spring . Must say i am really really pleased with it and this is my first Buck but i dont think it will be my last .
You have my utmost respect for your friendly and very helpfull manner towards your customers , I wish there was more companies in the UK like Buck.

Thanks

How goes the knife laws in the UK. I know for a time there it was almost illegal to carry anything. Are those laws still on the books and just not enforced or is it really difficult to carry a knife.

We are not allowed to carry a locking knife without very good reason and i dont EDC it but i do use it when im on the beach or at sea ( im part of a inshore lifeboat crew ) .You can carry a non locking folder under 3 inchs and i usually carry a SAK .Its not too bad for me as i live in a very rural area .It would be nice to carry it on by belt freely though .

Duncan.
