Hi, I was going over my notes, but I'm having a hard time reading them, either the Ebony changed to Diamondwood or 425M to 420HC changed in mid year, I'm hoping someone will remember, I think no one knows the exact month the change happend, maybe they do now this was a few years ago. Thanks George God bless

George, these two dates get confused. In 1992 Buck began to phase in 420HC steel. In 1994 Buck changed the handle material from macassar ebony to a laminate. As their supplier was getting spotty on getting it shipped from Africa. Strange as all models didn't make the switch right away. Other collectors have posted evidence that the model 124 didn't switch to 420 until 93 or 94.? Go figure. DM

Thanks David George God bless, I wonder how you can spot 425 from 420 they almost look identical. George

I've always wondered why buck didn't use rosewood on their knives for handles like so many other companies.

Razor,

Do you mean actual rosewood or something like Dymondwood? Actual rosewood is pretty pricey, and in fact Brazilian rosewood, which is the best rosewood, cannot be sold or transported internationally.

Bert
