Howdy all,

There are a couple of these knives available in the bay right now. Then knife is beautiful.... Standard clip point blade.. Mokume front bolster, no rear bolster (bare head) and glorious Maple Burlwood. One seller mentions that his knife was a salesman' sample and has been "in the box" for twelve years. There is a black Limited Edition box and the coded number.. 110MBLSLE1. I haven't been able to find any more info so I am turning to the best crew of experts I know. Does anyone know the story behind these knives. Thanks in advance. 1595816790922_s-l1600.jpg

I was looking at one of the auctions and it appears that the seller does not have any idea what mokume is! He says that it looks “blemished”!

No mystery. Maple Burlwood handle with a Mokume bolster, mosaic pins and a mirror polished blade. A limited edition of 250, listed in the 2010 catalog.
The Mokume bolsters do not show well on the example above. Have a look at mine.

Mokume can be all over the place as far as color. I have several Buck Knives with mokume and they range from almost as colorful as DeSotoSky's to so faint you almost cannot see any color difference.
I purchased a 501 with ivory and mokume bolsters a few years ago that was offered as one of Bucks legacy series and I could faintly see some fine lines but no color difference at all. I sent it back to Buck
and they replaced it with one that is a bit better but still not very colorful. If you are paying a premium price for mokume than you should be able to tell it is mokume.
