Just recently I played with my 110 custom BG.

1. It has best in the industry handle! It is Ideal for palm to hold any grip comfortble. In general just becaose of curvy shape and thickness.

2. Blade shape is great! For cut and penetration and for hard work - millions of them sold proove that it is good for work!

Why not to make some kind of Modern Buck 110! Kind of legend reborn etc. All the same but from new modern materials.

1. Handle G10 or Carbon Fiber
2. Bolsters Titanium or Aluminium
3. Blade out of CM 154 and twice thick - thick as 880
4. Boron Carbid coating
5. ...

Thanks, Vassili.

Well, it wouldn't be a classic 110 then... but Buck does have the new Mayo, might be more along the lines of what you're seeking. 110s have been made with titanium handles, Zytel handles and a whole variety of materials from the Custom Shop. I agree, it's tough to beat the old classic. (I have a hunch that mine may be going in for a BG-42 transplant, though... :D )

I am looking for 110 with titanium or steel bolsters, G10 handle and thick clip point blade. I have 880 and 882 and very happy with them, but I'll be even more happy if I'll have 110 made same modern way as 880 made. 110 Handle shape unbeatable, so the blade!

Custom shop does not make steel bolsters and G10 handle and thicker blade. If it does I'll be happy to order one.

I make a graphic editor run. This is what I am looking for:

Looks good even without bolsters.
And it may be done little bit wider:

(I can do any knife in graph editor!)

Thanks, Vassili.

110 is one of the better folding knives out there, design-wise. I'd buy one in no time if available provided that materials are more up to date. Make it a collectible and people will still go for it, its reputation has been well earned over the years.

There is "something" in the works for the 110 sometime in the near future although it does not involve G-10 sides or stainless bolsters. :(
I can't divulge the changes at this time either, mostly becuase they are still on the drawing board and scribbled on napkins.
When it gets more definite, I will share what i know.

I think that in general "solid fieeling" from 110 is because of curvy handlle and its heavyness. Center of gravity is probably on the same level where bottom line hits its maximum - as a result we have kind "yoke effect" (I found this word in dictionary - hope it matchs what I mean).
For demonstration see this picture:

You may do this with other knives but for 110 it is easy to set. It is stable on chair back - it is stable and comfortable in your handle!

It is not only my experience that once you hold this knife you have to force youself not to use it - cut something. At least one guy from knife.ru notice this also.

I think 110 not less tactical then 880 or 882, even better because of very agressive tip. But it better be steel or titanium - not brass (better steel with TiNi) and it should be G10 of CF.

Or solid handle out of aluminium with this gpippy inserts like MOD and MT has. (little holes in it for liquid drain like in MOD Mark2 etc...)

Thanks, Vassili.

"something" like Titanium liners and bolsters available from the custom dept ?

and what about one hand opening device ?

While waiting for the next generation 110, I bought one of the Cabela Alaskan Guide series 110's -- S30V with TiAlN blade coating and rosewood scales. Good balance is the key of the 110's long popularity and a simple steel upgrade doesn't do anything to affect that great balance.

Hey Nozh, your design almost looks like the Buck Goliath. And as far as S30V, could we get you guys to run some extra blades from that Alaskan Guide series? Would make alot of fellas very happy, and even more wallets empty!
